Cafe Dress Code Policy

1. General Appearance All staff members are expected to maintain a professional appearance while working at the cafe. This includes clean and well-groomed attire. Personal hygiene is of utmost importance and should be maintained at all times to ensure a pleasant dining experience for our customers.

2. Attire for Front-of-House Staff Front-of-house staff, including servers, baristas, and hosts, are required to wear the following clothing:

  • Black pants, shorts, or skirts that are clean, well-fitted, and free of rips or tears.

  • Black or white shirt or t-shirt that is clean, well-maintained, and free of offensive graphics or logos.

  • Footwear should be clean and in good condition. Closed-toe, non-slip shoes are strongly recommended for safety.

3. Dress Code Expectations for Front-of-House Staff

  • Short skirts and excessively short shorts are not acceptable. All clothing should provide appropriate coverage.

  • Activewear is not permitted as part of the dress code.

  • All staff with long hair are required to keep it tied back in a bun or plated style to prevent loose hairs from falling into food or beverages.

4. Attire for Kitchen Staff Kitchen staff, including chefs and kitchen hands, are expected to wear clothing that is clean, well-maintained, and designed for their specific roles. The following guidelines apply:

  • Chefs are encouraged to wear chef jackets along with chef pants. These should be clean and in good condition.

  • Kitchen hands are required to wear neat and tidy clothing, such as clean black pants or shorts and a black or white shirt or t-shirt.

  • All kitchen staff must wear non-slip footwear to ensure safety in the kitchen environment.

5. Personal Hygiene All staff members are expected to maintain high standards of personal hygiene. This includes regular hand washing, clean and trimmed fingernails, and the use of deodorant. Please refrain from using heavy scents or perfumes that may interfere with the dining experience.

6. Responsibilities of Supervisors Supervisors and managers are responsible for enforcing this dress code policy and ensuring that all staff members adhere to its guidelines. Staff members who do not comply with the dress code may be subject to corrective action.

7. Compliance Failure to comply with this dress code policy may result in verbal warnings, written warnings, or further disciplinary actions, up to and including termination of employment.

This dress code policy is in place to maintain a professional and hygienic environment for both our customers and staff. We appreciate your cooperation in adhering to these guidelines. If you have any questions or concerns about the dress code, please feel free to speak with a manager or supervisor.
